Medical Biller/Collector

Altair Health is seeking a full time Medical Biller who is a team player and has the ability to float throughout the billing department. Candidate will preferably have at the minimum, 3 yeas of experience in Neurosurgery, or Ortho/Spine as well as have out of network insurance experience. Must have good verbal and writing skills and should work well under pressure.

• Experience in patient collection, EOB analysis and account auditing
• Perform extensive insurance follow-up to investigate and resolve out of network payment denials and insurance trends
• Resolve outstanding accounts using various resources to retrieve claims status, medical documentation and billing guidelines to substantiate revised claim submissions and written appeals
• Correct claims and file appeals with supporting documents to insurance companies, by phone, electronically or mail
• Ensure denial reviews, claim follow-ups are conducted in a timely manner in accordance with payer timely filing limits
• Process secondary payer claims
• Support and assist billing team with excess work as needed
• Communicate with patients about coordination of benefit denials
• The ability to work receivables to investigate and resolve denials and partial payments
• The ability to validates, determine and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, E&M codes and modifiers upon review of the medical record documentation
• The ability to identify diagnosis and procedure in accordance with accepted coding conventions
• Perform charge audits for missed charges as needed and the ability to follow-up on missing charges and clinical documentation as needed
• Remain current with CPT and ICD-10 guidelines for specialty based physician billing
• Ensure documentation supports all charges to prevent denials and underpayments

Experience Required:

• High School graduate
• Some college helpful but not mandatory
• 3 year minimum medical biller experience
• Knowledge of insurance, billing terms, CPT and ICD-9/10-CM coding
• Knowledge of Modifiers and usage
• Knowledge of CCI edits
• Strong Medical Insurance background
• Extensive Out of Network knowledge
• Extensive experience with Claims follow-up a must
• EMR experience required
