Dr. Robert Aiken, a devoted researcher and educator, serves as co-director of Atlantic Health System’s Gerald J. Glasser Brain Tumor Center.
Dr. Aiken specializes in the diagnosis and management of brain, spinal cord and nerve tumors. He also focuses on paraneoplastic disorders of the brain and nervous system. He is particularly interested in developing new therapies for these disorders.
Dr. Aiken has years of experience in academic, clinical and administrative roles. He served as director of neuro-oncology at Rutgers-Cancer Institute of New Jersey of Rutgers University and held academic appointments in neurology, neurosurgery and oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
Dr. Aiken received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and neurologic training at the Neurological Institute of New York, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He received his fellowship training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Aiken has authored many professional research journal articles and has been featured on many “Top Doc” lists including America’s Top Doctors and America’s Top Doctors for Cancer from Castle Connolly, Best Doctors in Philadelphia, New York and Chicago and Inside Jersey magazine.
